Zona Rosa & Co.
The inspiration for Zona Rosa & Co. was birth out of burnout, feeling overwhelmed and unseen. During the pandemic, there were a lot of changes happening in my personal life that were taking a toll on my mental health. Creating and making things has always been my happy place. Last year, I stopped creating because my heart was heavy and I couldn't find the energy and mental space to show up for myself. After a while, I began exploring and learning about polymer clay and its endless possibilities. I purposely began creating time to learn and be curious which led me to feel inspired to create again.
I chose to name my business Zona Rosa & Co. because as a little girl, living in Mexico City, Zona Rosa was the place to be. This is an area that is well known for its food, rich culture, art, boutiques, architecture, and nightlife. All to say, it's a vibrant neighborhood!
The purpose of this creative space and brand is to lift up and embrace the in-between culture that many first-generation immigrants experience. I myself always felt too American and not enough at the same time. My hope is to create jewelry that represents my vibrant Mexican culture and at the same time, honors the new home I've built here. In this journey, I am unlearning, healing, and finding my cultural identity.
My hope for you is that you find a piece that speaks to you. I want to create jewelry that is not found in big box stores or that is replicated over and over again. I want you to feel empowered, represented, and stand out from the rest. You deserve to be seen, heard, and honored.
Love you always,
Pam

Hola, hola!
My name is Pam, welcome! Thank you for your support y por echarme porras. Your business and time mean so much to me and to my small business!
I would love to tell you a little about myself, I am Mexicana by blood and Defeña by birth. I am a mental health case manager, a wife to an amazing, supportive husband, and a fur mom to Milo, a Boxer mix, and Stella, an American Staffy.
I was born in Mexico City and I am the oldest of two. My family and I migrated to the Bay Area (“The Dro” if you know, you know) when I was 8 years old. Spanish is my first language and I became a translator for our family at an early age. Growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood, my family and I made our best efforts to assimilate. We all lost and sacrificed so much, learned to adapt, and grew new roots.
...
Zona Rosa & Co. is part of the process of creating a space in which I can blend two cultures, love and accept myself as a Mexicana stuck between two worlds.
